Sport Psychology (On Surface)
(review)

Václav Hošek

To understand Sport Psychology is not easy. In the field of psychology there are many renowned and well educated colleagues who imagine that the mission of Sport Psychology is „to push people to have pleasure from suffering“ which insinuates masochism. Although the book under review mentions paratelic states in sport it does not offer any great insight into emotional dynamics of sport performances. The book is a well-arranged introduction to the subject appropriate for high-school and bachelor's degree students of relevant fields. The book is published in the edition “Z pohledu psychologie” (From the perspective of Psychology) where the editors (Holt, V., Levi, R.) introduce applications of psychology´s findings from various fields of social praxis.
