Respektovat a být respektován [To respect and to be respected]
(review)

Veronika Valentová

The book was first published in 2005 and since then has been very popular here and in Slovakia, as well as associated courses for parents and pedagogues. Authors, a married couple Pavel and Tatjana Kopřivovi, are psychologists from Kroměříž who themselves are raising five kids. Other co-authors of the book, D. Nevolová, and J. Nováčková are psychologists active in Prague. In this book, which is dedicated mostly to parents, teachers and instructors, you can read not only about a partner or a power-based approach to raising a child, about efficient and inefficient ways of communication, about consequences of praise and punishments, but also about inner and external motivation, self-esteem and obedience, pro-active education and possibilities of the school.
