The book consists of edited lectures Frankl delivered as a visiting professor to students at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, during the summer semester of 1966. It is the third publication by Viktor Emil Frankl (1905–1997) to appear in the Classics series published by Czech publisher Portal, translated by Ondřej Fafejta.
