“This book is intended to be useful in the training of new counsellors and as a source of ideas for experienced counsellors”, state the authors in the introduction. Although they consider therapeutic work with a child to be “a very personal activity” and the nature of its theoretical basis and practical applications to be designated primarily by the personality and professional training of the counsellor, they also stress the necessity of sound theoretical knowledge, appropriate training and ongoing professional supervision.
