Reviewed publication fills a significant gap in Czech professional literature. So far this country lacked a clear introduction to the issue of children's language development, especially of a typical development. The information in the textbooks of developmental psychology, speech therapy and pedagogy were often limited, outdated or incorrect, in professional journals were rather special articles devoted to specific issues. Publications of Jan Prucha these gaps successfully fills, to a certain degree.
