The Psychology of Disasters in Russia

The disaster psychology is a relatively new discipline of applied psychology, which has developed mostly in last 15 – 20 years. We can also speak about the psychology of the state of emergency and crisis management or the psychology of crisis, disasters and trauma. In the Czech Republic the disaster psychology has been developing as a relatively independent discipline mostly since the flood in 2002, in other European countries is also its development connected to a certain large-scale or mass disaster and catastrophes. The lessons of an optional subject The Disaster Psychology take place at the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Arts at the Charles University since 2005. The Working Group for the Psychology of Crisis, Disasters and Trauma with the CMPS was officially established on 18. 11. 2010 (see the website: http://www.psychologieprokrize.cz/).
